Okay so it is a decommissioned nuclear reactor, but it was not just any reactor. This was THE reactor to make plutonium for the bomb dropped on Nagasaki, Japan to end World War II. Being in the reactor is an awkward mix of awesome and terrible at the same time. It is one of the newest national parks and had such an impact that we had to check it out.
On a lighter note… Our main goal of this visit was to see my Uncle Jim who works in the area. We had much fun visiting wineries, discussing life, and just hanging out. He is one of the most avid supporters of our journey (aka President of the Two in a Merlin fan club).
We also had a great bike ride on the Columbia river which was right behind the hotel where Jim (and we) were staying. An amazing few days for sure!
