As luck would have it, our new route put us in close proximity to Portland at the same time a bunch of our good friends were going to be there for my best friend’s 40th birthday celebration. We moved to a campground a bit closer to the city and spent two days joining our friends on their trip. It was fantastic to hang out with our friends again – especially in such a great city! We hit up some bars, had yummy food, ate late night donuts at the legendary Voodoo Donuts, and grabbed a few books at Powell’s. Many-many good times were had by all.
The following day we did a day trip to Multnomah Falls and a scenic drive. While a bit crowded, the falls were spectacular. Some of us did a hike to the top and put our feet in the water. It was definitely cold – but felt so refreshing! This entire area is non-stop beautiful with the river, streams, countless waterfalls, trees, bridges, etc. We wrapped up our visit with an incredible dinner with everyone at a restaurant on the 30th floor. The views were stunning and again – it was a wonderful night catching up with friends.
Our friends had a few more days in the area, but we needed to get on our way to our next stop – Central Oregon.
