On the Road Again

For this next part of our trip we have decided to try to slow things down a bit. On the first leg, we hauled ass. It was GREAT and we got see and do a lot (over 17 national parks/monuments) – but it was a lot of go-go-go. We have taken our time leaving Texas. Our first stop was just over an hour out of Austin and we’ve continued at this pace for the past few weeks as we’ve headed south towards the gulf coast.

It’s been a lot of fun exploring some of these smaller towns and seeing an entirely different side of Texas: Bastrop, Smithville, Luling, Schulenburg, and Shiner. Highlights have included: disc golf on the Colorado River, beer tasting at Shiner Brewery, and our first stay using Boondocker’s Welcome.

Kitty update: Gemma and Schnabbies got back into the swing of RV living pretty quickly (us too, as a matter of act) and were out enjoying the sights and sounds at our very first stop.

  1. We are currently in Houston and will meander our way up to Austin to visit family in a couple of weeks (staying outside of Bastrop). I’m going to HAVE to make it to the Shiner Brewery–I’ve already had a little more than a couple Shiner Bocks while here. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time, and I can’t wait to read more of your adventures! Safe travels. Dawn

  2. I love seeing photos from smaller towns. How cool — the train depot, the river dam, and seriously — watermelon seed spitting? I didn’t know that was even a thing. How cool! Thanks for your posts. You two look great!
